Jubilant! — Old Fox Yard

Jubilant! is a free mini festival that takes place in Stowmarket to celebrate the creativity of local school children and young people. Over several weeks, a specially commissioned team of talented artists work with students from 10 local schools to build their own creative project. The Old Fox Yard is one of the festival’s hosting venues.

2024

The theme for 2024’s Jubilant! was ‘What I Ate for Lunch’ which invited students to explore and express their daily experience of school lunches through photography. Under the expert guidance of local photographer Sadie Windscheffel-Clarke, students learnt essential skills and techniques to creatively capture their school dinners, providing a snapshot of what young people are eating for lunch in 2024. The student’s work was exhibited across Stowmarket Culture Group Venues and will be curated into a major new exhibition on School Dinners, set to launch at Stowmarket’s Food Museum in early 2025.

2023

The Design Quarter was one of the hosting venues of the festival where the theme for 2023 was ‘Tomorrow’. Workshops covered themes including interactive story books, flash mob performances, ceramic sculptures, stop motion animations, portraiture, song writing, and podcasts. Each one was exhibited at a different cultural venue in Stowmarket as a celebration of the young people’s creativity and ideas.
