Heritage & Restoration
Heritage
Stretching back to the 16th century, the Old Fox Yard was once the Fox Hotel. A popular coaching inn, the Fox Hotel remained the town’s hotspot for centuries, housing commuters in the busy town. By the 19th century the inn had become the large complex of buildings that we see today. Previously consisting of a coach house, piggeries and stables, the inn gained Grade II Listed Building Status in 1950 before being converted to a collection of shops and offices in 1984.
Restoration
The Yard was acquired by Modece Property in 2019 where it has since undergone significant restoration and redevelopment. With a design approach to creatively preserve, integrate and showcase its heritage value, the Old Fox Yard now sits on Stowmarket’s high street in its former glory.
Today
The Yard's successful restoration has led to the establishment of popular destinations like the Pallet Bar and Fox Yard Studio. Continuously evolving, we're committed to ongoing sustainable efforts aimed at preserving our rich heritage for generations to come.
