Community workshops
2023
The ‘Community Workshops’ at Fox Yard Studio offered free, accessible sessions designed to foster creativity and build connections within the community. This initiative emerged in response to the increasing desire for artistic learning following the challenges of lockdown, where many turned to creativity as a means of coping. Our goal was to provide a supportive space for individuals to learn new artistic skills, engage with like-minded people, and enhance their ability to adapt to an ever-changing world.
Throughout the project, we hosted 30 workshops, attended by 245 participants. These included 11 adult workshops covering a wide range of artistic disciplines, such as: Creative Writing, Knitting & Crocheting, Life Drawing, Sewing & Lino Printing, Visual Storytelling, Zine Making, and Watercolour, Acrylic, and Oil Painting
Additionally, we offered three engaging workshops for children, led by Ipswich-based artist Catalina Carvajal. These fun and educational sessions included: Colombian Masks, Fantastic Animals, and Mexican Cards.
Our workshops aimed to empower participants with creative tools, encourage social interaction, and cultivate a vibrant artistic community for all ages.
